Privacy Policy

Dropback ("we", "us") is an iPhone app that watches the prices of things you bought at Best Buy and tells you when you can ask for a price adjustment. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how to delete it. Questions: support@dropbackapp.com.
The short version: we only see the receipts you forward to us, we use them only to check prices for you, we don't sell or share your data for advertising, and you can delete everything from the app at any time.
What we collect
- Account details. When you open the app we create an account with a random ID and your personal Dropback email address. You can add a first name (optional), and say whether you are a My Best Buy Plus or Total member, which changes how long your price match window is. We don't ask for your email address, phone number or password.
- Receipts you forward. When you forward an order email to your Dropback address, we read it to find the order number, order date, product names, Best Buy SKU numbers, quantities and prices. We save those details, not the whole email.
- Email log. For each email you forward we keep the sender address (usually your own email address, since you're the one forwarding it), subject, date and what happened to it (for example "added 1 item"), so you can see it in the app. If you set up Gmail auto-forwarding, Gmail's confirmation code is shown to you the same way.
- Emails we couldn't read. If a receipt can't be read automatically, we keep its text for up to 30 days so we can fix the reader, then delete the text.
- Price history. The daily prices we look up for your items, kept for up to 120 days.
- Claims. Whether you told us you requested a price adjustment, and whether Best Buy paid it and how much. We use this to show your savings and to measure how well Dropback works.
We don't use advertising, analytics or tracking tools, and we don't collect your location, contacts, photos or payment information.
How we use it
- To check the current Best Buy price of items you bought and tell you when it drops during your price match window.
- To show your purchases, alerts and savings in the app.
- To improve Dropback, for example by measuring how much users save on average (in combined, non-identifying form) and fixing receipts we couldn't read.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your information or share it for advertising. We use a small number of service providers to run Dropback:
- Cloudflare hosts our servers and database and receives the emails sent to your Dropback address.
- Best Buy's developer API is used to look up current prices. We send Best Buy only product SKU numbers, never your name, order details or anything that identifies you.
- Apple delivers the app and notifications. Price-drop alerts are created on your phone.
We may also disclose information if required by law.
How long we keep it
Account, purchase and claim details are kept until you delete your account. Unreadable email text is deleted after 30 days and price history after 120 days.
Deleting your data
In the app, go to Settings › Delete my account. This permanently deletes your account, purchases, price history, claims and email log from our servers. Deleting the app alone does not delete your account, so use this option first, or email support@dropbackapp.com and we will delete it for you.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections. Your app sign-in token is stored in your iPhone's keychain, and we store only a scrambled (hashed) version of it.
Children
Dropback is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has used Dropback, contact us and we will delete their account.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
